Robert Rosenberg

Robert C. Rosenberg Memorial Fund

 

Robert “Bob” Rosenberg was a cornerstone of public finance law, joining Hawkins Delafield & Wood in 1967, becoming partner in 1974, and serving on its Management Committee for fifteen years. Throughout his distinguished career, he advised public agencies nationwide and played a pivotal role in founding the NYC Industrial Development Agency. Bob was deeply committed to the Municipal Forum of New York, serving on its Board of Governors and championing the Urban Leadership Fellows Program. Established following his passing in 1996, this fund honors his legacy of integrity and mentorship by supporting the next generation of urban leaders.

Alan Anders

(Alan Anders Scholarship Fund)

 

The Alan Anders Scholarship Fund honors the memory of one of the Municipal Forum of New York’s longest-serving Governors and former Presidents. Alan’s lifelong dedication to public service earned him the Forum’s Public Service Award in 2004 and the Lifetime Achievement Award in 2020. To celebrate his legacy and steadfast commitment to advancing the careers of underserved New York City youths, the Board of Governors created this fund to support the next generation of professionals.

Ned Flynn

Ned Flynn Community Service Scholarship Fund

 

Ned Flynn was a dedicated leader in municipal finance whose 35-year career included key roles at E.F. Hutton, First Albany, and Jefferies. A passionate advocate for the Municipal Forum of New York, he served on its Board of Governors for six years and led the organization as President in 2012. Ned also co-chaired the Forum’s Urban Leadership Fellows Committee, working to expand opportunities for students. Established following his passing in 2017, this fund reflects Ned’s tireless commitment to mentorship, youth development, and community service.

Carey Gabay

Carey Gabay Education Fund

 

Carey Gabay rose from public housing in the Bronx to graduate from Harvard Law School before embarking on a distinguished career in public service. He served as assistant counsel for Governor Cuomo in 2011 and was the first deputy counsel for the Empire State Development Corporation. Following his tragic passing in 2015, this fund was established within the Urban Leadership Fund to provide an excellence award to a summer intern in the ULF program. It serves to honor his memory and inspire graduates to make lasting contributions to their communities.

Scholarships You Help Make Possible

Academic Scholarships

Alumni currently enrolled in college who maintain a minimum 3.5 GPA are eligible for an annual $2,000 award. This scholarship provides vital financial support, empowering our students to remain focused on their journey toward becoming the next generation of urban leaders.

Ned Flynn Memorial Scholarship for Community Service

This award honors alumni who demonstrate a deep commitment to giving back. Applicants must submit an essay detailing their recent contributions to their community. One recipient will be selected annually by the Futures and Options.

Carey Gabay Excellence Award

Presented at the MFNY Annual Dinner, this prestigious award recognizes one alum with a GPA of 3.0 or higher. The recipient is chosen for community contributions that reflect the spirit and enduring legacy of the scholarship’s namesake, Carey Gabay.

Book Awards

ULF interns who successfully complete the 6-week program each receive a $500 book award to offset the cost of textbooks and educational materials for their college courses. It ensures our interns are prepared with the resources they need for their upcoming college courses.
