Question: In what ways has your experience as a ULF intern helped you with your education and career goals?

"After participating as an intern for Samuel A. Ramirez & Company, I gained a valuable amount of experience that will help me for my future goals. It helped me improve my interpersonal skills, as well as gave me the opportunity to meet and keep contacts with my mentors. I enjoyed my experience as a ULF intern and hope the program continues to operate in order to give this valuable experience to other students."

Elaine Alcantara, ULF 2000

"My experience as a ULF intern (at Standard and Poor's) helped me develop my knowledge of how corporations of any kind require collaboration in order for the process of the company to run smoothly. In addition, I became more aware of the importance of municipal securities and also how crucial communication is in the corporate world."

Raymond Chang, ULF 2001

"The ULF program helped me to make the first step on my way to the business world. Furthermore, it provided me with the opportunity to meet my mentor, Mark Muller (of Loews Corp./CNA), who taught me a lot about municipal bonds and helped me to pursue my career goal. I greatly appreciated the ULF program, which opened my mind that I want to be a business man."

Junchan Hong, ULF 2001

"Presentation skills and communication skills are developed. Those skills help me a lot no matter what stage I am in. Most important is that the program gave me the chance to open my eyes. As a teenager at that time I didn't know much about what I was looking for. But, in certain points, the program gave me some idea of what I want or do not want to be."

Jie Zhen Jiang, ULF 1999 (at JJ Kenny, Standard and Poor's)

"Well, since I was placed at a financial institution (Standard & Poor's), I came to realize that 'finance' just isn't what I want to pursue. Even though working in an 'office' environment is great and comfortable, I feel that it's not for me because it is too 'quiet.' Other than that, it's really great to be able to gain such valuable hands-on experience by working for such prestigious firms."

Anna Lee, ULF 2001

"My experience as a ULF intern (at Bear, Stearns & Co.) helped me to do successful presentations for school. With the internship I gained confidence and patience in my schoolwork and my job. I am also not afraid to ask for help when I need it."

Jennifer Barile, ULF 2001

>"I found out more about the business world, became more outgoing, and got more of an idea about what I should study as my major in college."

Lai Yan Lee, ULF 2001 (at Squire, Sanders & Dempsey)

"Improved communication skills; declared college major; improved computer skills; learned to manage time wisely."

Ilona Mednik, ULF 2000 (at Salomon, Smith Barney)

"My patience became stronger because of the amounts of files I had to work with. Because of this experience, I can now handle large amounts of work in college without any pressure. Before this internship, I was afraid I would not be able to handle all of the school assignments."

Dmitrijs Nahajs, ULF 2001 (at Sidley Austin Brown & Wood, LLP)

"My experience being a ULF intern helped me out in life as a whole. If I want to succeed in life, I have to be focused and serious about it. No matter how serious or not, in whatever I'm doing I have to give 100 percent. If it's at school, work or at the gym, give my all and all will come back to me in a positive light. My internship was really the first time a job or anyone really treated me like an adult. Having responsibilities will make a person grow up and start on his way to successful living."

Leo-Richard Previllon, ULF 1999 (at Alliance Capital)

"As a ULF intern (at Enhance Financial Services) I was able to work on my interpersonal skills, communication, organization and time management skills. I have been able to use all of these skills in my college career and I will continue to do so."

Sherika Antoinette Sterling, ULF 1999

"In skills developed, work attitudes acquired, my experience as a ULF intern (at Salomon, Smith Barney) has helped me with my education and career goals. Without the help of that internship, I wouldn't know what the business world is like and how it works. Moreover, it helps me to enrich my skills and attitudes in education. It makes me foresee my future as an accountant and financial advisor."

Wan Fen Wu, ULF 2001

"Improved my communication skills, gave me the discipline I needed to excel in school, and enabled me to become a student 'mentor' with other incoming interns."

Linda Yip, ULF 1997 (at Standard and Poor's)

"Working in a real business area let me know how it would be to work in the business area. I learned a lot in work that I never learned in textbooks. It's about the experience and helping each other on work."

Qi Ling (Elaine) Huang, ULF 2001 (at Chapdelaine & Co.)
